SIR supports COBOL, Natural, JCL, SQL, OPC. Forthcoming: PL/I, C, C++.

Environments

IBM OS/390 (MVS), CICS, IMS/DC, DB2, IMS/DB (DL/I), VSAM.

Architecture

SIR is structured as a three-tier software:

A simple batch component resides on the mainframe to extract and transfer source components to the Documentation Server.
The documentation Server runs on a UNIX platform. It parses the sources to extract all the knowledge embedded in the source components. It stores the result within the Technical Knowledge Base. It publishes the documentation through a Web publishing server and a Web server.
A browser (Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer) on user workstations. The Java Runtime Environment at level 1.2 or above is required.
